The ED Meeting of FAPRA held in Bali, Indonesia, on April 4-5, 2008
Co-host by APRINDO and the P.S, the Executive Directors' Meeting of the Federation of Asian-Pacific Retailers Associations (FAPRA) was held in Bali, Indonesia on April 4-5, 2008. Executive directors or secretary generals from ten retailers associations or chamber of commerce including China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand attended the meeting. Two guest speakers from ChoicePoint were also invited to attend this meeting.
The Loss Prevention was mainly discussed in this meeting. Philippines Retailers Association introduced the related laws in several countries on Loss Prevention, Japan Retailers Association made a report on current situation and solution on Loss Prevention in Japan, the P.S also presented the thoughts on Loss Prevention from New Zealand Retailers Association, additionally two guest speakers from ChoicePoint introduced the current situation on Loss Prevention in the Stats and Canada.
The meeting also talked about the candidacy of the 15th APRCE. Korea Retailers Association made a report on the preparation of HOD meeting this October in Korea. The reports on the Observing and surveying to Vietnam Retailers Association and the Preparation of Declaration of the Resolution Regarding Environment after 13th APRCE were made by Japan Retailers Association. Finally the FAPRA Constitution Amendment request proposed by FICCI had been discussed.

The HOD meeting of FAPRA held in Tokyo on October 11, 2007
Co-host by JRA and P.S, the HOD meeting of FAPRA was held in Tokyo, Japan on October 11, 2007. 15 heads of the delegates from 16 retailers associations attended this meeting.
The amended FAPRA Consitution has been approved by all members in the meeting. JRA introduced the preparation work on 13th APRCE and the current climate within the retail industry in Japan. The work report of P.S and two subcommittees introduction were made by P.S. The Loss Prevention, as common interested topic of the meeting brought by CGCC, has also been discussed. KRA made a presentation on the preparation for the 14th APRCE. Finally, the Declaration of the resolution regarding Environment has been signed by all member countries and regions.

The ED Meeting of FAPRA took place in Sydney on March 15, 2007
Co-host by ARA and P.S,this meeting had gathered executive directors or secretary generals from twelve retailers associations.
Membership Criteria and Membership Fee had been discussed and will be delivered to HOD meeting of Tokyo for voting.Education subcommittee and Awards subcommittee have separately hold own meetings.Credit card and Copyright topics were discussed.The 13th APRCE preparation reported by JRA, and KRA also made a presentation.

KRA to host 14th APRCE
At the HOD meeting that took place in Tokyo, Japan on October 10, 2006, Korea Retailers Association was elected by majority of the members to be the host of 14th Asia-Pacific Retailers Convention & Exhibition. 62 delegates from 14 member associations attended the meeting. |

FAPRA S. G Meets Counterpart in EuroCommerce
Having delivered a speech at the 2006 China Retailers Convention
& China International Retail Trade Expo/15th Shanghai National
Commodity Fair on Sept. 24, Mr. Xavier Durieu, Secretary General
of EuroCommerce came to Beijing to visit his counterpart in FAPRA,
Mr. Xiaoning Cao. The two exchanged ideas regarding the issues they
each faces and shared experience in steering and managing secretariats.

JRA Delegation Visits
P. S Office in Beijing
Mr. Taneo Nakamura, Chairman of Japanese Retailers Association
and his delegates Mr. Matsuo Shimojima、Mr. Kenji Tsuchida、Mr. Yasuhiro
Tanaka, visited China from Sept. 19 to Sept 24. JRA delegation took
the occasion of the 2006 China Retailers Convention & China
International Retail Trade Expo/15th Shanghai National Commodity
Fair to promote the 13th APRCE. During their first stop in China,
the delegation visited the office of the Permanent Secretariat in
the Central Business District of Beijing and met Mr. Xiaoning Cao,
FAPRA Secretary General, Mr. Jiang Ming, vice deputy chairman of
CGCC and Mr. Zhang Xilin, Secretary General of Beijing Chamber of
Commerce.
Mr. Taneo Nakamura is concurrently the chairman of FAPRA. |

FAPRA Secretary General Meets EuroCommerce Counterpart
On July 4th, Prof. Cao, FAPRA Secretary General met with
his counterpart in EuroCommerce Mr. Xavier Durieu in EuroCommerce
Head Office in Brussels, Belgium. The two had a fruitful discussion.
Mr. Durieu said the close relationship between the two organizations
is positive to the retail industry around the world. To help the
FAPRA Permanent Secretariat to understand the international operations
of such an organization, Mr. Durieu provided a full set of internal
rules and regulations formulated by EuroCommerce.

Executive Directors' Meeting of the Federation of Asian-Pacific
Retailers Associations took place in Singapore
The first Executive Directors'Meeting of the Federation of Asian-Pacific
Retailers Associations took place in Singapore on May 15, 2006.
Executive directors or secretary generals from nine retailers associations
or chamber of commerce including Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan,
Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines and Singapore attended
the meeting. Also present at the meeting were the secretary general
and staffs of the FARA Permanent Secretariat that was set up in
March 2006 only. During the one-day meeting, important issues like
the separation of Federation Chairman from Convention Chairman,
change of FARA and ARCE to FAPRA and APRCE, some provisions in the
FARA Constitution, the Guiding Rules of Permanent Secretariat, etc.
were discussed. Participants also provided positive and constructive
inputs that are beneficial to the growth of the federation and expressed
their hopes and suggestions to the P. S for the future. On the ensuing
day, the warm-hearted host, Singapore Retailers Association organized
a tour for the delegates to visit the different retailing format
in the country. Singapore Tourism Board also invited delegates to
dinner. |
